Halloween

There really isn't much "Halloween" happening here in Valencia. But our friend Anthony Scotti knows lots of expats from countries that celebrate the spooky night, so he put together a great evening of Trick Or Treating around the beautiful and hip neighborhood called El Carmen.
He arranged for several local businesses, markets, merchants, and even a few apartments to be ready to give out candy when our crew arrived.
It was incredibly enchanting to walk the narrow cobblestone streets, our kids all having a raucous time dressed in costumes made of random household stuff (you can't really buy costumes here) while the locals stared and asked, "is this...the Halloween?"
They got candy at a Wine shop, oyster bar, tapas restaurant, etc, apples from a frutería, chocolates at the flat of a retired US expat, were serenaded by a bald bawdy Spanish guitarista, danced to a DJ who was set up for a local arts festival, and much more!
It was really special, and a nice touch of something "normal" from our lives in the states.
Happy Halloween, friends!
