Xativa: our first castle

This morning we climbed the bell tower of Colegio Basilica la Seu and were rewarded with stunning views of Xativa.
We accidentally had our own private tour - maybe it's a slow season for visitors: we went inside the beautiful church to ask about climbing the tower. A warm and very friendly gentleman named Fernando greeted us, and took us out to the tower gate to unlock the heavy wooden door for us. Our new amigo then showed us how to lock the door behind us, and told us to just come out and let him know when we were finished so he could lock it back up. Unbelievable!

We also explored the awesome castle - our first castle visit EVER!  This particular castle is cool, because most of it is ruins you can climb and explore, but there are parts of it that are very well preserved and hold educational displays.

The day did not disappoint!
